Lichens are more than just inconspicuous plants - they are living bioindicators that provide valuable information about our environment. They show us what the air quality is like, whether an orchard has been treated with pesticides or that the habitats in the Antarctic have astonishing parallels to those in the high alpine region of Austria. Together with the renowned lichenology expert Prof. Dr. Roman Türk, we delve into the fascinating world of lichens. These complex organisms conceal a code that reveals unique aesthetic structures when you get close to them. In order to explore this mysterious world, a lichen terrarium has been specially developed to provide deeper insights into their habitat.
